Hi Peter,

What video conferencing vendor do you use/recommend for enterprise use?

Thx,

Hi, Jeannie!

My personal experience is with Lifesize, who I’m very happy with. I’ve looked at Ploycom and Tandberg, as well. Each has it’s pros and cons. Polycom and Tandberg are larger, more established companies with a wider range of systems. I found that, comparing in the Lifesize Room price range, that Lifesize had some compelling advantages over the competing systems, in it that the box could natively connect to more systems, and then, with two Lifesize Rooms connected, daisy chain connections for up to 12 participants on one call without a bridge. Also, Lifesize could maintain the quality of image per connection, whereas the Polycom system we reviewed would bring all of the video quality down to the lowest common denominator. This was a year ago, so a lot might have changed.

My main advisory is that you worry more about bandwidth than which system, as none will work if you don;t have a healthy, protected segment of a T1 or two to dedicate to the calls. That said, we find Lifesize very satisfying even when we restrict it to less than 512k.
