{"id":1918,"date":"2015-01-20T13:40:44","date_gmt":"2015-01-20T13:40:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/techcafeteria.com\/new\/?p=1918"},"modified":"2015-02-09T21:06:02","modified_gmt":"2015-02-09T21:06:02","slug":"how-i-spent-my-2015-technology-initiative-grants-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/techcafeteria.com\/?p=1918","title":{"rendered":"How I Spent My 2015 Technology Initiative Grants Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m back from our (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lsc.gov\">Legal Services Corporation<\/a>) <a href=\"http:\/\/tig.lsc.gov\/lsc%E2%80%99s-technology-initiative-grants-tig-conference-2015\">15th annual technology conference<\/a>, which ran from January 14th through the 16th \u00a0in San Antonio, Texas. \u00a0It was a good one this year, with a great location, good food, great people &#8211; nearly 300 of them, which is quite a record for us. There were plenty of amazing sessions, kicked off by a fascinating keynote on international access to justice web app partnerships. Slides and videos will be up soon on <a href=\"http:\/\/tig.lsc.gov\">LSC&#8217;s website<\/a>. But I did want to share the slides from my sessions, which all seemed to go very well. \u00a0I did three:<\/p>\n<h2>Are You Agile<\/h2>\n<p>I kicked off the first morning doing a session on agile project management with Gwen Daniels of <a title=\"Illinois Legal Aid Online\" href=\"http:\/\/www.illinoislegalaidonline.org\/\">Illinois Legal Aid Online<\/a>. My slides provided a basic overview of project management concepts, then Gwen did a live demo of how ILAO uses <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atlassian.com\/software\/jira\">Jira<\/a> and a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Scrum_%28software_development%29\">SCRUM<\/a> methodology to develop websites and applications. Having studied agile more than actually practicing it, I learned a lot from her. \u00a0The combined slides will be up on LSC&#8217;s site.
